Below is a description of each of the places you will visit.
Taman Ayun Temple
Taman Ayun translated means ‘beautiful garden’ and is generally regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali. The Taman Ayun temple is situated in a beautiful park with trees and ponds, near the village of Mengwi in the south of Bali at about 8 km southwest of Ubud and 18 km northwest of Denpasar.
The majestic Taman Ayun was built in 1634 by the Raja of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu and underwent a significant restoration project in 1937. It is a referred to as a Pura Kawiten or “family temple” or ‘mother temple”, a special temple where the ancestors of the Raja Dynasty of Mengwi and important gods of other temples are honored.
Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is truly one of Bali’s most favourite tourist destinations with its spectacular rice terraces unfolding from the base of Mount Batukaru stretching towards the ocean. The rice fields follow the natural landscape of the Batukaru mountain range. The views are truly breathtaking and the name itself indicates this as well – Jati meaning “really” and Luwih meaning “good” or “beautiful”. This attraction is considered a ‘must-see’ when you travel to Bali simply for the majestic panoramas and photographic opportunities.
Bali Botanic Garden
Bali Botanic Garden is Indonesia’s largest Botanic Garden containing the island’s biggest collection of wild orchids and receiving over half-a-million visitors each year. Nestled in the refreshingly cool, mountainous region of Bedugul in central Bali, the 157-hectare Garden is an easy day trip, around 90 minutes’ drive north of Denpasar.
The sprawling, peaceful Garden is a mix of green, open space, landscaped gardens, unique plant collections and remnant tropical forest set against the misty slopes of Tapak Hill.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple
The Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is one of Bali’s more significant and picturesque temple complexes located in Bedugul, central Bali on Beratan Lake. The Bedugul area is strategically located between the northern and southern roadways in Bali, making it a popular holiday location for both the local Balinese and international tourists.
Ulun Danu Beratan translated means ‘the source temple of Lake Beratan’. This temple complex is Bali’s most iconic and famous of all the temples with spectacular scenery of the lake and the backdrop of the Bedugul mountain range providing fantastic photographic opportunities as well.
Ghost Palace Hotel
In the highlands of Bali, you will discover the Ghost Palace Hotel, a haunted hotel shrouded in ghosts, curses and corruption. Located very near Lake Beratan, this massive abandoned luxury hotel resort is built on the side of a mountain ridge with spectacular views of the valley below.
Today, the hotel is empty, cold and dark. Built in the early 1990s, the hotel was abandoned on the eve of its opening for mysterious reasons. Upon entering the hotel, you will immediately feel that something bad happened here, and it is a great place for ghost hunters and those looking for an extraordinary experience in Bali.
