Tegenungan Waterfall is located in located at the Tegenungan Kemenuh village, in Gianyar, North from the capital Denpasar and close to the artist village of Ubud. The waterfall is isolated but has become a popular tourist attraction to explore and relax. It is one of the few waterfalls in Bali that is not situated in highlands or mountainous territory.
The clarity and volume of water at the site depends on rainfall but it contains green surroundings with fresh water that can be swum in. The waterfall includes varying highs that can be climbed after the descent down stairs to reach it. This attraction also features a viewing point to the jungle and waterfall at the main entrance.
The surrounding environment is lush and green with beautiful scenery. The local inhabitants often bath and use it as a natural water supply. There are plenty of markets on your way to the waterfall as well as a great restaurant overlooking the breathtaking views. Try the fresh coconut while you are at the restaurant, it will be very thirst quenching once you have made your way back up to the top.
There are a few steep steps to descend to the valley floor under the waterfall but it is well worth the trip. If you have your board shorts or bikinis, you can wander in for a swim and even stand directly under the cascading water from above. For those wanted to capture the perfect photograph, after lunch is a great time as the light will be just perfect.
