Goa Lawah Temple: Bat Cave
Goa Lawah Temple is considered one of the most important of temples in Bali. It is a very unique and unusual temple as it is constructed around the opening of a cave where large colonies of bats reside. The name itself in Goa Lawah translated means ‘bat cave’.
Once at the main entrance you will see two huge banyan trees standing tall. Once inside, you will now enter the central courtyard and notice three bale pavilions located in three corners of the building.
Tenganan Village
Tenganan is a traditional village on the island of Bali . This village is located in District Manggis , Karangasem regency in the east of Bali island. Tenganan can be reached from Candi Dasa and located about 10 kilometers from there.
Tenganan village is one of the three villages of Bali Aga, beside Trunyan and Sembiran. What is meant by Bali Aga is a village that still maintains a pattern of life whose community order refers to traditional customary village rules inherited from their ancestors.
Taman Ujung Water Palace
Taman Ujung Water Palace, also known to the locals as Taman Soekasada Ujung, was constructed in 1919 and official opened in 1921 by the King of Karangasem. The palace can be found in the village of Serayan in the Karangasem regency.
Taman Ujung is also referred to as the sister site of Tirta Gangga. It is truly a spectacular example of European and Balinese architecture featuring three huge ponds with long ornate bridges and paths connecting them.
Tirta Gangga Royal Water Garden
The Tirta Gangga royal water garden was constructed in 1946 during the reign of the late raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Located in the regency of Karangasem to the east, Tirta Gangga underwent major renovations after being badly damaged from the super heated volcanic ash during the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963.
Tirta Gangga is situated 75km from Denpasar in the village of Ababi and is located on the south-eastern slope of Bali’s highest mount, Mount Agung. The climate is cool and refreshing due to the location high up on the mountain.
